Dodgers and Brewers Set for NLCS Rematch Starting Sunday

Run it back. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers will meet in the National League Championship Series for the second straight October, with Game 1 set for Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET at American Family Field in Milwaukee on FOX.

Both teams took care of business in the Division Series. The Dodgers eliminated the Braves 3-1, and the Brewers eliminated the Padres 3-1, with all three Milwaukee wins coming by one or two runs. Now comes the rematch. Last year, Los Angeles swept the Brewers in four games at this stage behind one of the greatest single-game performances in baseball history, as Shohei Ohtani hit three home runs and pitched six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts in the Game 4 clincher, propelling the Dodgers to back-to-back World Series titles.

This time the Brewers hold the cards. Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games, the best mark in baseball, and owns home-field advantage. They will send NL Cy Young frontrunner Jacob Misiorowski to the mound for Game 1. Misiorowski went 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts in the regular season, leading the majors in ERA, strikeouts and WHIP. The Dodgers had not officially named a starter, with left-hander Tarik Skubal expected to get the ball after allowing one run in six innings in Game 1 of the NLDS against Atlanta.

The stakes could not be higher on both sides. The Dodgers are chasing the first NL pennant three-peat since the 1942-44 Cardinals and the first World Series three-peat by a National League team in baseball history. The Brewers are chasing the first World Series title in franchise history, with a chance to avenge last year's sweep on the same stage.

The full series schedule, announced by MLB on Thursday: Game 1 Sunday at 8 p.m. ET and Game 2 Monday at 5 p.m. ET in Milwaukee, then Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Thursday in Los Angeles at 8 and 9 p.m. ET. If necessary, Game 5 is Friday in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET, with Games 6 and 7 back in Milwaukee on Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. ET. Every game airs on FOX or FS1.

Betting angle

The market is not giving Milwaukee much credit for 103 wins. FanDuel opened Game 1 with the Brewers at -116 and the Dodgers at -102, essentially a coin flip despite the Brewers holding home field and sending their ace to the mound. That short price on Los Angeles tells you everything about how the books view a two-time defending champion in October. If you believe the regular season matters, there is value on the home team in the opener.
