Brewers Edge Dodgers 2-1 in NLCS Game 1 Behind Turang's Homer and a Nails Bullpen

By The Sports Nus Staff | October 12, 2026

The Brewers needed every out. Milwaukee beat the Dodgers 2-1 in NLCS Game 1 on Sunday night at American Family Field, taking a 1-0 series lead behind Brice Turang's game-tying solo homer, Luis Lara's go-ahead RBI single, and a bullpen that refused to blink.

Turang got the Brewers even in the fourth, taking Tarik Skubal deep for a solo shot that tied it 1-1. An inning later, Garrett Mitchell walked, moved up on Cooper Pratt's sacrifice bunt, and scored on Lara's RBI single for the 2-1 lead. That was all the offense Milwaukee would need, and all it would get.

Jacob Misiorowski gave the Brewers 4.1 gutsy innings: 5 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts on 94 pitches. Skubal was brilliant in defeat for Los Angeles: 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts. It was only his second loss in eight career postseason starts. The Dodgers went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position, stranded 9, grounded into 3 double plays, and did not manage a hit after the sixth inning.

The ninth was pure theater. Trevor Megill walked Kyle Tucker and pinch-hitter Josue DePaula to open the inning, bringing the winning run to the plate with nobody out. Then Mookie Betts flied out to the warning track to end it, and 42,617 people exhaled at once. It is Milwaukee's first postseason win over the Dodgers since 2018. Los Angeles swept last year's NLCS. Not this time, not yet.

What it means

The Brewers stole the opener against the Dodgers' ace and now hand the ball to Logan Henderson for Game 2 today in Milwaukee, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto going for Los Angeles. Win today and the Brewers take a 2-0 lead to LA. The Dodgers' offense looked mortal: no hits after the sixth, rally after rally snuffed out. If that continues, this series gets short in a hurry.
