The Dodgers' season is down to Blake Snell. Down 0-2 after dropping 2-1 and 7-4 in Milwaukee, the defending champions come home to Dodger Stadium, where they went 52-31 this year. Nobody in this series has an answer for what is coming in Game 3.

Snell has been the best version of himself since returning from the injured list in early August: five earned runs in 39.2 innings over his final eight regular-season starts, a 1.13 ERA, one run or fewer in every single outing. At home he was even stingier: one run in 18 innings at Dodger Stadium. His NLDS start against the Braves was short at 3.2 innings, but the damage was one run on three hits.

Robert Gasser has been better than the record says: 5-5 with a 3.87 ERA, a 2.50 ERA over his last 36 innings, and four one-run innings against the Padres in his first postseason start. But the Brewers went 0-for-20 against Snell in the regular season, and now Milwaukee's bats have to solve him on the road with the Dodgers' season on the line.

The trends cut both ways, which is why the run line pays plus money. The Brewers are 9-1 in their last 10, hitting .282 with a 2.12 ERA, and they lead the season series 6-3. The Dodgers are 6-4 in their last 10 hitting .205. But down 0-2 at home with Snell on the mound, this is the exact spot where the champs punch back. Lay the run line and get paid.

Betting angle

Dodgers -1.5 (+129). The board's play. Snell at home in a must-win, the Brewers 0-for-20 against him this season, and plus money on the run line.

Snell under 1.5 earned runs (-133). Five earned runs since August. If he gives the Dodgers five-plus innings, this is the par, not the ceiling.

Dodgers ML (-180). The safer route if you don't want the run line. The price is steep because the spot is that good.
