A'ja Wilson, record five-time WNBA MVP

There is no more debate to have. A'ja Wilson has won a record fifth WNBA Most Valuable Player award for the 2026 season, becoming the first player in league history to win three straight MVPs.

Shams Charania reported the news Thursday, with sources telling ESPN that Wilson will take home the award yet again. Five MVPs passes every other legend who came before her, and no one in the WNBA had ever gone back to back to back until now.

Think about what that means. For nearly 30 years of this league, the best seasons the best players ever put together still left room for somebody else to win it the next year. Wilson just closed that door three years running.

The numbers back it up. Wilson became the first WNBA player ever to average 25 points on 50 percent shooting and 40 percent from three, per Charania. Her scoring average ranked second-best in league history, trailing only her own record from two years ago.

Las Vegas has watched her grow from a franchise cornerstone into the face of the league. The Aces built their entire identity around her dominance on both ends of the floor, and the hardware keeps confirming what the games already showed: nobody touches her.

Three straight MVPs puts her in company nobody else in women's basketball has kept. The greatest-of-all-time conversation is no longer a debate about potential or peak. It is about a resume that keeps outgrowing the record book.

Congratulations are in order, but honestly, at this point the league should just start engraving the next one.
